The price for perfection (physically speaking)

On my way to work this morning, I was listening to a morning radio show that was discussing the latest trend in plastic surgery. Apparently, men can now have their abs "sculpted" into a six-pack through some special kind of liposuction. Amazing. Think how hot that would look--you're walking down the beach and this man with these sculpted abs walks by--but then you notice, the REST of his unsculpted body and begin to wonder--why does this man spend so much time doing sit ups and no time doing bicep curls? Hmm...

It's sad. Sad that a man would pay over $7,000 to have this procedure done. Sad that in our world youth and beauty are revered above most things, including wisdom and experience. Sad that I buy into this too, that I long for a "perfect" body, instead of celebrating a healthy body.

*Note-if you are a man considering this procedure, please know that you have to have a certain amount of fat, which the doctor on the radio called the "one inch test". If you can pull more than one inch of fat from your stomach, you need to lose weight first (hmm, maybe the ab muscles would develop naturally then?). However, if you have less than 1/2 inch of fat, you will need to gain weight. Ha!
